Abstract:
We report the first case of Trypanosoma cruzi-associated retinitis which was diagnosed with the use of 28s ribosomal DNA sequencing. The case highlights the utility of broad-range molecular diagnostics for detecting rare and unsuspected ocular pathogens. Ocular involvement in Chagas' disease is also discussed.

摘要:

       首次报道了利用28s rDNA测序技术,诊断出克氏锥虫相关视网膜炎的一个案例;患者是一位69岁的男性厄瓜多尔移民,曾患复发性多发性骨髓瘤,接受过多个化疗疗程及自体造血干细胞移植(HSCT);患者被诊断为虹膜睫状体炎,使用靶向性PCR检测各种病原体均显示阴性;但利用泛真菌28S PCR检测到了与克氏锥虫序列具有97%相似性的序列;此案例提示,分子诊断学在检测罕见及未被怀疑的眼病原体中具有广泛用途。
